Тема: Out of memory
Всем здравствуйте.
Я аранжировщик, пишу музыку в программе Cubase. Дело в следующем: есть такой замечательный плагин Stylus RMX. Когда то давно, ещё в XP? он начал выкидывать сообщение "Out of memory". В руководстве на него написано, что надо в boot.ini после "Windows XP professional" поставить ключ /3Gb. Поставил - всё заработало на "ура" и я забыл про это...
Перешёл на Windows 7 и вспомнил. Опять тот же симптом - "Out of memory". Но куда вставлять этот ключ (/3Gb) в семёрке??? Или может как-то по другому? Оперативки у меня 3Gb.
Вот текст из FAQ к Stylus (на XP работало):
I’m running out of memory, how should I have my Windows settings optimized for RMX?
On Windows, the paging file size must be at least 1.5Gb (it's best if this is set to let Windows manage it), or, if you have virtual memory turned off, you'll need at least 2Gb of RAM to use RMX fully with a lot of other plug-ins and applications that use RAM.
If you're getting "Out of memory" warnings with Stylus RMX, please note that we're always looking for ways to reduce the memory usage of RMX and we hope to reduce it further in future updates, but the bottom line is that it is a plug-in. That means RMX only has access to whatever memory is left over after your host and other plug-ins make their claims on memory. So, one way to avoid running out of memory with RMX is to provide it with more memory to begin with (by reducing those other usages of memory) or by increasing the total amount of memory.
On Windows, you can increase your memory capacity, regardless of how much RAM you have, by using the /3GB switch in your boot.ini file.
CAUTION: Some drivers are not compatible with the /3GB switch. For example, an old ATI driver doesn't work and the Digidesign M-box driver doesn't work. If there's a problem, you'll generally know right away because you're system won't boot. If that's the case, follow the instructions in the above link and boot without the /3GB switch.
NOTE: The "Out of memory" warning in Stylus RMX refers to virtual memory, not physical memory. This means that installing more than 2GB of RAM will not help eliminate this condition (although it often improves performance).
To add the /3GB switch as a separate boot option:
• In My Computer | Properties | Advanced | Startup and Recovery, click Settings.
• Click the Edit button under System Startup to edit the BOOT.INI file.
• Find the current boot entry, which typically looks like this: multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect
• Copy this line and paste it at the end of the BOOT.INI file, and change it along these lines: multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional 3GB Switch" /fastdetect /3GB
• This lets you choose between a conventional boot entry and the /3GB boot entry. If something goes wrong when you use /3GB, you can always boot back into the original configuration.
• Save and close BOOT.INI.
• Click OK to close the Startup and Recovery panel.
• Click Settings again, and in the "Default operating systems:" dropdown, choose the newly created boot entry with the /3GB switch.
• Click OK to close everything. Reboot into the new profile.
